1

It is very common to see questions in Booklet A that will ask you which statements given are Correct or False.

For the latter type of questions, usually, do you put a Tick or a Cross next to the answers ?

2

Look at the below example.

Which of the following statements about cell is/are false?

A. Cells are the basic unit of all living things.

B. As an organism grows, the number of cells increases.

C. The size of a cell depends on the size of the organism.

(a) A only

(b) C only

(c) A and B only

(d) B and C only

We see that A and B are true and that C is false, so you will tick both A and B and cross C.

However, when you are putting down the answer, you might find yourself inadvertently answer (3) A and B only because the cross easily tricks your tired and stressed mind in the midst of an examination.

3

Next time, when you see such questions, instead of a Tick and Cross, write a "T" or "F" next to the answer instead.

Which of the following statements about cell is/are false?

A. Cells are the basic unit of all living things.   T

B. As an organism grows, the number of cells increases.    T

C. The size of a cell depends on the size of the organism.  F

(a) A only

(b) C only

(c) A and B only

(d) B and C only

See the difference ? The answer (2) is very evident when you do not have to do a "double deduction". Do keep things simple.
