Way 1 of 6 – Doodling

Doodling is probably the easiest form of learning through art. Why? First, everyone can doodle. Second, this can be done as long as there is a pen and paper, or an iPad. Third, we don’t need a lot of time for this. The better news is, with some practice, your child can start to produce beautiful drawings from just a circle, a triangle, or even a squiggle.

Interestingly, there is research to show that if you child does a lot of doodling, his right-brain will be trained to conceive ideas, form connections, and solve problems better, easier and faster. This means compo writing may turn out to be more natural, oral presentation may be more spontaneous and math equations may become easier. In this aspect, Doodling is sometimes known as Creative Drawing.

I have a real-life example in the form of my husband. Since young, he did a lot of art and craft, including doodling. Today, he is responsible for almost all the creative designs and a great deal of copy-editing you see and read at LearnSuperMart. He is quite handy when it comes to thinking out of the box in solving everyday problems too.

That is why we believe in letting our daughter do as much drawing as she wants. She is loving it, and she is learning through it. Isn’t that best of both worlds?
