10 Crucial Considerations In Choosing Your Child's Secondary School

Before 2015, schools with vacancies after the Secondary 1 posting exercise could accept students with lower scores who appeal. As such, parents usually will try their luck to transfer their children to "better" schools with higher cut off point after the Secondary 1 posting.

The shock came in November 2015 where MOE informed all secondary schools to reject appeal cases of pupils whose Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) scores did not meet their cut-off points during the appeal period. Many parents were shocked and angry over this new directive as they were not informed by MOE and the schools.

Do strategize the 6 choices in choosing the Secondary School for your child. Some parents choose schools with COP of few points higher than their children's PSLE score as their first and second choices. Who knows? Perhaps they can go in as the COP will fluculate based on the cohort for the year.
