Mathematics requires students to have concepts and application of learning at their fingertips. To achieve both speed and accuracy in examinations, students need to first be able to understand what is being asked, and then dissect the question, devise a plan to solve it and finally to work out the steps to obtain the answer. To cut short the time taken for such a lengthy process, students would need to be thoroughly familiar with what is commonly being asked.

2

One way is to be consistent in revising what has been taught. In Maths, to revise means to attempt questions on an extremely regular basis. The nature of Maths is such that given regular practice, students gain confidence in the process and their minds are sharpened and more adept to answer challenging questions within a shorter period of time.

Experience of answering different types of questions is also gained through more exposure and this leads to a better handling of questions during an examination setting.

How can you apply this tip?

A sizable number of practice questions from a particular topic each day would suffice. Depending on the amount of time that can be set aside for Maths revision, you might want to attempt 5 questions a day.

It could be a mix of MCQ, short structured questions or paper 2 questions.  This adds up to 25 questions done in a week and possibly 100 questions in a month, excluding weekends!
