Have you ever wondered when should we use “I” or “me” in a sentence ?
1. I is the first person singular subject pronoun, which means that it refers to the person performing the action of a verb.
E.g.
I am hungry.
I am going to the movies.
I am going out with Mary.
2. Me is an object pronoun, which means that it refers to the person that the action of a verb is being done to, or to whom a preposition refers.
E.g.
My father is taking me to the movies.
My mother gave me ten dollars for lunch.
My sister told me to help her with her homework.
3. Which do you think is correct ?
(a) My father took Jason and I to school.
(b) My father took Jason and me to school.
Confusing ? Yes, it gets confusing for many people which form to use when there are two subjects or objects linked with “and”, as in the above examples.
The correct sentence is 3b.
4. Tip
E.g.
(a) My father took I to school.
(b) My father took me to school.
After removing Jason from the sentence, doesn’t it look clearer that “me” should be used ?
