1.   What are “Plural Looking” Nouns ?

  • Plural nouns are words to indicate that there is more than noun. i.e. more than one person, animal, place, thing etc.   Most plural nouns are easily recognizable by the ‘s’, ‘es’, ‘ies’, ‘ves’ at the end of them.  There are of course exceptions to this rule such as children, feet etc.
  • Some children might be confused by some uncountable nouns which look plural.  Be careful ! In fact, they require a singular verb.

E.g.

Measles, Mumps, Mathematics, Politics, News, Athletics etc.

The news is at 6 pm.

Mathematics is my favorite subject.

Measles is infectious.
