1.   Have you ever wondered when to use “Who” or “Whom” in a sentence ?

2.   Use Who when you are referring to the subject of a sentence or clause

E.g.

Who went to the movies yesterday ?

Who bought the book for you ?

3.    Use Whom when you are referring to the object of a verb or preposition

E.g.

To whom, did the award go ?

Whom does Jessica love ?

4.    Tip

When you have trouble deciding which to use, you can try this trick.  Ask yourself whether the answer to the question would be he/him or she/her.

If the answer is “he/she”, then the proper choice would be “who”.

If the answer is “him/her”, then use “whom”.

Simple ? Try the below questions.

E.g.

Question :  _______ (Who / Whom) ate my noodles ?

Answer to Question  : He / She ate my noodles

Choice  : Who

Question : _______ (Who / Whom) should I talk to about the poor service from the waitress ?

Answer to Question : You can talk to him / her.

Choice : Whom
