1. Have you ever wondered when to use “Who” or “Whom” in a sentence ?
2. Use Who when you are referring to the subject of a sentence or clause
E.g.
Who went to the movies yesterday ?
Who bought the book for you ?
3. Use Whom when you are referring to the object of a verb or preposition
E.g.
To whom, did the award go ?
Whom does Jessica love ?
4. Tip
When you have trouble deciding which to use, you can try this trick. Ask yourself whether the answer to the question would be he/him or she/her.
If the answer is “he/she”, then the proper choice would be “who”.
If the answer is “him/her”, then use “whom”.
Simple ? Try the below questions.
E.g.
Question : _______ (Who / Whom) ate my noodles ?
Answer to Question : He / She ate my noodles
Choice : Who
Question : _______ (Who / Whom) should I talk to about the poor service from the waitress ?
Answer to Question : You can talk to him / her.
Choice : Whom
