When It Is As Simple As Joining A + B

The 'and' connector must be one of the most tested Synthesis and Transformation questions for our lower primary students.   It is commonly used to join two ideas together into one sentence

It is a simple rule, right ? Just to connect the two sentences together by simply inserting 'and' between the two sentences. But wait. Some top schools like to come out with tricker version of the question

Example:

Mrs Li asked us to come on time. Mrs Li wants to start the lesson punctually.

-> Mrs Li asked us to come on time and she wants to start the lesson punctually.

-> Mrs Li asked us to come on time and Mrs Li wants to start the lesson punctually.  X

It is important to note that there is no need to repeat the noun twice. In fact, the student has to replace the noun with the suitable pronoun.
