Since 2015, Picture Discussion and Conversation has been replaced by Stimulus-Based Conversation. It follows the Reading Passage sub-component.

Students are required to respond to any graphic from a poster or advertisement to a map and even a milk bottle wrapper.

There are three main prompts linked to the stimulus graphic and the reading passage.

 

a.

1st prompt - directly linked to the stimulus graphic.

 

b.

2nd prompt - related to conversation topic; indirectly linked to the stimulus graphic.

 

c.

3rd prompt - related to conversation topic (more open).

3.

Students are accessed on the abilities below.

 

a.

Personal Response – to be able to develop and give a personal response.

 

b.

Clarify of Expression – to express oneself clearly with accurate pronunciation, together with the use of appropriate vocabulary and accurate grammar.

 

c.

Engagement – to engage in a conversation with the examiners.
