If you have studied with or tutored your child often enough, you would have known what his common shortcomings are in math papers.

My son tend to be overly confident at times, which results in him doing calculations in his mind without penning the workings down. He also has terrible handwriting, which infers he is writing too fast.

The more common tendencies are:

- Overly confident, doesn't check or does calculations in his mind
- Overly indecisive by taking too much time on a question
- Too quick, careless and has messy handwriting
- Easily frustrated and gives up too quickly
- Easily nervous and forgets to do all required steps
