How many times has your child told you that he has checked his work, but his workings were still wrong?
In math, simply reading through what he wrote will not be useful for checking. His brain has to be forced into redoing the question. And the best way to do so is to calculate using inverse arithmetic operation.
That means, if 2 + 5 = 7, the ways to reverse check are:
7 - 2 = 5, or 7 - 5 = 2.
