Conducting a fair test for experiments is important as it helps to prove that the outcome is attributed only to the manipulative variables.

A fair test is a test (experiment) where only one variable (the one we are testing) is changed. The other variables are kept constant.

Know Your Variables

 

a)

Changed variable (independent variable) : Only one variable is changed for an experiment.

 

b)

Variables kept constant (controlled variables) : Other than the independent variable, all other variables that could affect the experiment to be kept constant

 

c)

Variable we measure (dependent variable) : Observations and measurements to be taken for the experiment.
