每个音节都不是一个孤立的单位，音节和音节连续读出，声调互相影响，或多或少要发生变化，不能保持原來的调值。这种现象叫变调。
第三声 +第三声 = 第二声 +第三声
例如：
洗澡 (xi3 zao3 -> xi2 zao3)
老鼠 (lao3 shu3 -> lao2 shu3)
老师 (lao3 shi3 -> lao2 shi3)
老虎 (lao3 hu3 -> lao2 hu3)
